How we work

A small practice can offer what a large firm cannot: the undivided attention of experienced counsel, and a relationship that lasts beyond the matter at hand.

  • Direct access to counsel

Every matter is handled personally by Aaron Shull. Clients speak with the person doing the work, and decisions are made with the full context of the engagement.

  • Prepared from the outset

Whether the matter is advisory or contentious, the file is built as if it may one day need to be defended: organized, documented and ready.

  • Transparent billing

Work is billed hourly and invoiced monthly in arrears, with clear scoping at the start of each engagement. Retainer arrangements are available for ongoing counsel.

Engagement process

From first contact to retainer

1. Initial inquiry

Use the contact form or call the office. A brief description of the matter and the parties involved is enough to begin. Please do not send confidential details until a conflict check has been completed.

2. Conflict check and consultation

Aaron reviews the inquiry, confirms there is no conflict, and arranges an introductory call at no charge to understand the matter and discuss whether the practice is the right fit.

3. Scope and retainer

A written retainer agreement sets out the scope of work, the hourly rate, and how the engagement will be managed. For ongoing counsel arrangements, a monthly retainer with a defined scope can be arranged.

4. The work

Matters are managed through a secure client portal, with regular reporting and monthly invoicing. Clients always know where the matter stands and what has been spent.

Who we serve

A select group of business and government clients

The practice works with technology companies, established businesses adopting new technology, research and not-for-profit organizations, and public-sector bodies. What they share is a need for counsel who understands both the technology and the institutions that regulate it.

The practice also works alongside other law firms as co-counsel or strategic adviser on matters within its areas of focus.

Each engagement is treated as a relationship rather than a transaction.
